COPPA Compliant

Koolab complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children under 13 and provide parents with rights to review, delete, and control their child's information.

1. Introduction

Koolab, Inc. ("Koolab," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of all our users, with special attention to the privacy and safety of children. Special Protections for Children Under 13

We fully comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and take additional measures to protect young users.

3.1 Account Options for Children Under 13

If a child under 13 wants to use Koolab, there are two options:

  • Child creates account: The child can sign up themselves and will be asked to provide their parent or guardian's email address. We immediately send a consent request to the parent containing a unique verification link.
  • Parent creates account: A parent can create an account for their child through their parent dashboard. Since the parent is creating the account directly, consent is established at the time of account creation.

For child-created accounts, if parental consent is not received within 7 days, the account automatically transitions to a read-only state with limited functionality until the parent approves.

3.2 Limited Data Collection for Children

For children under 13, we collect only the information necessary to provide educational services:

  • Username (can be a pseudonym)
  • Email address (or parent email)
  • Age/date of birth (for verification only)
  • School affiliation (for community features)
  • Content created within Pods

We do not collect unnecessary personal information from children, require children to provide more information than necessary, or use children's information for targeted advertising.

3.3 Parental Rights

Parents and guardians have the right to:

  • Review the personal information we have collected from their child
  • Request deletion of their child's personal information
  • Refuse further collection or use of their child's information
  • Receive notification of any material changes to our privacy practices
  • Access their child's account activity through the parent dashboard

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@koolab.com or use the parent dashboard in your account settings.
