Terms of Service

Last updated: January 21, 2025

1. Welcome to Koolab

Koolab is an educational collaboration platform that connects learners, parents, and educators through "Pods" - collaborative learning groups focused on shared interests and activities. By accessing or using Koolab, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

Koolab is operated by Koolab, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"). These terms apply to all users of our platform, including students, parents, guardians, educators, and any other visitors.

2. Eligibility and Account Types

2.1 Age Requirements

  • Students aged 13 and older: May create an account independently with school verification.
  • Students under 13: Require verifiable parental consent before account creation. Until parental approval is received, accounts remain in a read-only state with limited functionality.
  • Parents and Guardians: Must be at least 18 years old to create a parent account.

2.2 Account Verification

To maintain a safe and trusted environment, Koolab requires verification before users can create Pods:

  • Student Verification: Students must verify their school affiliation. This helps ensure that Pods are created by genuine learners within educational contexts.
  • Parent Verification: Parents creating Pods on behalf of their children must complete identity verification to confirm they are a trusted adult.

2.3 Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Parents who allow their minor children to use Koolab accept responsibility for their child's activity on the platform.

3. Pods and Collaboration

3.1 What are Pods?

Pods are collaborative learning groups where users can come together around shared educational interests, activities, or projects. Pod creators set the parameters for their Pod, including visibility, membership policies, and collaboration guidelines.

3.2 Pod Creation Requirements

  • All Pod creators must complete the appropriate verification process.
  • Pods must be created for legitimate educational or collaborative purposes.
  • Pod content must comply with our Community Guidelines and be appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Pod creators may enable local moderation features to manage membership and content.

3.3 Joining Pods

Users express interest in joining Pods through our "Interested?" feature. Pod owners may approve or decline membership requests based on their Pod's requirements and policies.
